MTHFR Gene Variant Test – Buccal Swab

$180.00

Targeted iTargeted

This simple, non-invasive MTHFR Gene Test uses an at-home buccal swab to identify specified variants in the MTHFR gene. MTHFR is involved in folate metabolism, and the results provide genetic information that can be considered alongside other relevant health and nutritional information.

Testing is provided through NutriPATH. Fairfield Nutrition also provides an additional explanatory report to help you understand your results in context.

The MTHFR Gene Test uses a simple buccal swab to identify specified variants in the MTHFR (methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase) gene. MTHFR is involved in folate metabolism and the conversion of homocysteine to methionine.

Genetic testing provides information about the variants you carry. It does not directly measure current folate status, homocysteine levels, or how well a particular nutritional intervention will work for you. Results are best considered alongside other relevant health and nutritional information.

About the Test

  • Non-invasive collection: Uses a simple at-home buccal swab.
  • MTHFR variants: Reports specified variants in the MTHFR gene.
  • At-home testing: The sample can be collected at home and returned for laboratory analysis.
  • Additional report: Fairfield Nutrition provides an explanatory report to help you understand the results in context.

More Detail on the Variants Tested

MTHFR is an enzyme involved in folate metabolism and the conversion of homocysteine to methionine. Variations in the MTHFR gene can influence MTHFR enzyme activity.

The test includes the C677T and A1298C variants of the MTHFR gene. Results indicate which of the tested variants are present and whether a person has one or two copies of a particular variant.

MTHFR variants are only one factor that may be relevant when considering folate and homocysteine metabolism. Genetic results should therefore not be considered in isolation or used on their own to determine whether supplementation is required.

Please note: This test provides genetic information and is not intended to diagnose or treat a medical condition. Where appropriate, results should be considered with a suitably qualified healthcare professional alongside relevant health information and laboratory results.
